In yet another show of loyalty for their party, thousands of supporters of the opposition Alliance For Patriotic Reorientation and Construction party, Saturday thronged the national truck drivers garage in Abuko to attend what has been the biggest and most successful political gathering organized by the party since 2016.

The event which brought traffic within the Kanifing Municipality to a halt for hours was characterized by cultural displays as party loyalists sang praise songs of the old good days reminiscent of when the party was in power.

Addressing the jubilant crowd amidst non-stop roaring and applause from party faithfuls, interim leader Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta who was visibly happy, expressed admiration for APRC supporters for their unfliching support for the party’s supreme leader ex-president Jammeh. However, he expressed his dismay over how the Barrow administration continues to lie against Jammeh and the party.
“All that they are doing is to assassinate Babili Mansa’s character and defame our great party but they will never succeed in doing so”.
He cited the setting up of the Janneh Commission of Inquiry and TRRC as plots aimed at destabilizing the party’s support base.

“It’s all a witch-hunt that is why the coalition is in disarray today. They are all selfish, no wonder they are not delivering on their promises”. He said since Barrow assumed power in January 2017, there is nothing he can show the Gambian people that his administration has achieved.
“I heard he is claiming credit for the OIC Conference Centre and the Lamin-Koto/Passamas roads project.
They were commissioned by Babili Mansa, these are our projects”. He also told the rally that government spokesperson Ebrima Sankareh, Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou, Deputy Chairperson of the TRRC, Adelede Sosseh and Vice President Dr. Isatou Touray, are enemies of the APRC as they have on numerous occasions manifested their hatred for Jammeh and the party.

Meanwhile, he also revealed the party’s official position on the coalition 3 years agreement which propelled president Barrow to power. The APRC he added, is not in support of “3 years jotna”. He said the party will follow the constutional dictate and is preparing for the presidential election in 2021.

Speaking earlier, 1st deputy party leader and chairman of the APRC organizing committee, Ousman Rambo Jatta, took a swipe at Fatoumatta Toufa Jallow who accused former President Jammeh of rape and TRRC lead counsel Essa Faal.

“I know the people who schooled Toufa to lie against Jammeh and today I will reveal their names. Fatou Camara and Amadou Scattred Janneh are among them. Jammeh will never go for cheap girls like Toufa Jallow. For Essa Faal, who the hell do you think you are?”, he posed. He went on to implore journalists to be impartial in their reporting. He said the country’s economy is in a bad state because the president is being played by his close associates.

For his part, APRC National Mobilizer Yankuba Colley, said journalists have an important role to play in enlightening the public. He thus urged them to remain impartial in their work. He also had a message for party supporters: “I urge you all to regularize your status, get your identity cards and prepare for 2021 because we are taking over this country”.

APRC National Women Mobilizer, Isatou Jifanga Jarjue, said Gambia’s problem is UDP party leader Ousainou Darboe. “He is greedy and very selfish. All he is after is self aggrandizement. She said the establishment of all these anti-Jammeh Commissions is a ploy to assassinate his impeccable character. “He will survive all these unscathed. What is even more sameful is employing criminals to be in charge of those so-called commissions”.

Other speakers included former Chief of Protocol Borry Colley, APRC regional chairpersons, and national executive members.
