Gambian And Senegalese Soldiers Involved In A “Scuffle” As Senegalese Attempted To Breach The Gambian Border – Reports.
GM24 have learnt of a minor scuffle between Senegalese soldiers and Gambian Military Personnel posted at the Gambian border village of Darsilami.
According to our source, a group heavily armed Senegelese soldiers illegally crossed the border into the Gambia near a Gambian army base along the border with Southern Senegal.
The Senegalese has a history of breaching into the Gambian land claiming ownership of the area.
The senegalese forces crossed over the border with unneccesary heavy weapons to provoke Gambian soldiers who were merely stationed on their land and doing their job.
Gambian army personnel were said to have professionally engaged them into a passionate and heated dialogue.
When questioned about their actions, aparently the senegalese told the Gambian officers that they only wanted to visit and greet the village Alkalo (Chief).
The Gambian Army had now deployed a suitably armed unit to support the platoon already there.
The two armies has now settled the matter through a dialogue according to our source.
