Napoli president not to sign African players unless they give up NT duty

Napoli club president believes European clubs shouldn’t sign African players unless they give up participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.

African players have been making great appearances in the big European leagues in the past few years, showing massive talent and potential.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Edouard Mendy have helped their teams claim major victories and valuable titles, proving to be Balon d’Or candidates.

Despite that, some Africans have struggled to represent their countries with some clubs denying their players from wearing their national team shirts.

Napoli president touched on the topic, stating that he won’t sign African players unless they choose not to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I told them lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore!” said De Laurentiis.

“I love them, but either they sign something confirming they’ll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the in South America, these players are never available!

“We are the idiots who pay salaries only to send them all over the world playing for others.”
