Egyptian football legend Hossam Hassan has criticized the national team head coach Carlos Queiroz for his ‘stubbornness’ after Sudan game in Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs have secured their spot at the Round of 16 in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after a narrow 1-0 victory over neighbours Sudan.

Despite qualifying to the knock-out stage, many have criticized the performance of the Pharaohs, especially after scoring only two goals in their three Group stage games.

The majority of criticism was targeted at the Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz who most blame for the poor performance.

Hossam Hassan has spoken up about the topic, claiming that Queiroz had made multiple major mistakes during the AFCON Group stage.

Not only that, but Hassan also believes that Salah should have been benched during Sudan game, as Queiroz should have included more players to prepare them for the Knock-out stages.

“Queiroz had failed in managing Sudan game,” Egypt former striker said.

“Salah played three Group stage games, he had many chances to make better shows.

“I believe Salah should have been benched, Queiroz should have played the subs to prepare them for the Knock-out stages.

“Just like Messi and Ronaldo, Salah can be substituted, even if he’s in good form.

“Another mistake Queiroz made is not including Trezeguet in the starting 11 after Nigeria game.”
