Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr of Freetown explained that she had seen “harrowing” images and that there were “rumours that more than 100 people had died.”

More than 90 bodies have been reported to have arrived at the nation’s morgue, and approximately 100 people are being treated in hospitals and health centres throughout Freetown.
